- As part of the agreement, OKAPI:Orbits will provide customized analyses and tools to support the first Hungarian-owned LEO constellation, ensuring smooth integration of SpaceTraffic Management (STM) principles and maximizing mission lifespan.
- This agreement represents a significant milestone, emphasizing the critical role of incorporating STM into the early design stages of space missions. By integrating STM from the outset, mission designers can optimize their plans well before launch, paving the way for more efficient, safer, and more sustainable operations in orbit.
[Germany, Hungary – 13 December 2024] OKAPI:Orbits, Europe’s leading provider of Space Traffic Management solutions, and 4iG Space and Defence Technologies, Hungary’s first privately owned large enterprise focusing on the space and defense sector, have formalized a strategic partnership to optimize mission design by integrating advanced Space Traffic Management capabilities into the early stages of mission design.
This collaboration ensures cost-efficient operations while enhancing safety and sustainability in space. This agreement underscores the growing need to embed sustainable space operations and compliance with international debris mitigation requirements into the foundation of mission planning.
4iG Space and Defence Technologies is currently implementing its HUSAT program, part of which is HULEO, an eight-satellite Earth Observation (EO) constellation in low Earth orbit (LEO). The constellation will feature six electro-optical satellites and two synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, delivering remote sensing data and data processing services.
“This partnership exemplifies 4iG Space and Defence Technologies’ dedication to fostering responsible and sustainable space operations. By collaborating with OKAPI:Orbits, we affirm our commitment to upholding international requirements and standards while championing innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving space sector”, emphasized István Sárhegyi – CEO of 4iG Space and Defence Technologies
OKAPI:Orbits will provide state-of-the-art mission design optimization capabilities and ensure compliance with international sustainability guidelines like the Zero Debris Charter and ESSB-ST-U-007. With OKAPI:Soteria, 4iG Space and Defence Technologies leverages unique space data insights to minimize the risks of its mission proactively before launch and optimize performance through advanced propellant management and maneuver forecasts. All generated analyses can easily be transferred into OKAPI:Orbits’ integrated STM data platform, providing seamless customized end-to-end launch support, collision avoidance, and coordination services.
The number of active satellites is projected to grow by over 230% within the next three years. 4iG Space and Defence Technologies addresses this challenge proactively by integrating Space Traffic Management (STM) principles at the mission design stage, ensuring cost-efficient solutions from the outset.
Kristina Nikolaus, CEO & Co-Founder of OKAPI:Orbits, “We are proud to pave the way in creating a more secure and efficient orbital environment for generations to come. Our partnership with the 4iG Group not only advances space operations but also highlights the economic advantages of sustainable and efficient STM, providing long-term value for our partners and stakeholders."
